Winter Garden: Monoprint Like Matisse Workshop, (DEC 2024)

This monoprinting workshop, led by VA Studio, introduced participants to expressive printmaking techniques inspired by Henri Matisse’s iconic cut-out approach. The session focused on translating botanical forms into bold, abstract compositions through the use of layered inks, earthy tones, and vibrant colour palettes.

Through guided demonstrations and hands-on exploration, participants developed an understanding of mark-making, texture-building, and the interplay between positive and negative space. The workshop encouraged experimentation, supporting individuals to move beyond traditional approaches and engage with printmaking in a more intuitive and contemporary way.

Hosted at the Granby Winter Garden, the session fostered an inclusive and inspiring creative environment, enabling participants of all levels to build confidence, expand their visual language, and produce a series of unique, resolved prints.
